I don't know why that crap bothers me so much, they don't infect my local break. But jeezuz, it's just like in the 90's when the pro longboarders were trying to duplicate shortboard moves on nine foot boards. What's the point, it just looks silly throwing all that foam around. What will be the next trend, bass boat surfing?
ps- at work so had it on mute - probably a good thing
Sorry, but it actually looked like those guys were having a lot of fun and were generally pretty skilled surfers... And no, I'm not a stand-up surfer. Just someone with the balls to admit that something really unpopular actually looks kind of fun. The real crime is that so many weekender SUPers clog/hog up lineups for so many of you guys (not a single SUP surfer so far where I live)--it sounds like a lot of them skip learning basic ocean skills and knowledge too, since it's so easy to just paddle around on those big planks. It's like kayaks--let 'em have fun--who cares, as long as they keep away from other people. Want to know what really looks lame? Shortboarders Huntington-hopping in puny, gutless waves instead of learning to ride a fish or longboard in order to maximize their fun in small surf, while maintaining some semblance of style.
