I've never seen a SUP--they just aren't around where I live (way too much heavy white water and high frequency of large swells maybe). I know that people elsewhere can't stand those things--kind like kayakers around here I guess--just big, hard to control vehicles that give an unfair advantage + sometimes used by people who don't even have basic ocean knowledge/skills. But, that looks pretty fun to me, and surfing is way more about fun than anything else. Also, that guy was ripping that thing, relative to what an average person can probably do on it.

Wait . . . so being kind of insane is the same as being a donkey . . . ?

I mean, clearly these guys are decent longboarders, which you can tell by the cutbacks, but I don't care. It still looks lame, standing there like a big ol' dildo. Gimme a break. Fuck that shit.

How many times did that thing hit the rocks?

haha. steamroller is the shit! :D

its interesting, i live on n shore oahu and out here SUP is kind of a respected thing (while it sounds like its a nuisance on west coast). at least in the spots i surf. but then those guys charge TOH+ bombs and some crazy outer reef breaks a mile off shore. O.o and all the SUPers i've seen RIP.

Whatever, great surfers do well on multiple craft, donkeys donkey on whatever they ride. But if I'm going to get run over I'd rather it be an 8' Doyle than a friggin SUP or kayak. And here in SoCal, have you noticed the SUPs are almost always some 200 lb plus dude with a big gut?

For the record, I like "Steamroller". However, the ULI SUP combo in this video just makes me chuckle.

It looks so stupid doing a cutback by sweeping hard..Just use your legs without bending over and it'll be fine...

I was surfing in SoCal a few weeks ago and had one of those SUP's hogging lots of waves. For the shortboarders, there's longboarders taking off early. For us longboarder's it's SUP's. I guess we're even now!
