Gear
Alright, I'm looking for a logical explanation of the following: spring suit, booties, long sleeve rash guard.......GO!

He just a middle aged surfer (notice foam in board) who doesn't give a rats ass about fashion.
You should give him credit for not wearing the colors he is most comfortable with, that being day glow and shit.
A lot of people put a rash guard on under the wettie. Having said that maybe it went like this……weather / water good for the spring. Low tide at a rocky / reef bottom break, so the booties to save the feet. Then the only available rash was a long sleeve?? Or maybe he’s just a donkey?? LOL
I have no problem with this guy. He has a few clicks on his odometer but is going backhand on a nice wave with a board less than 9 feet. He is also sort of bending his knees, which is bonus points if he’s over 40.
His gear? The booties are because of too many reef cuts or urchin spines, the long sleeves are to protect the pre-cancerous cells on his forearms he gets burned off every 6 months, and the spring suit is to compress his stiff lower back caused by his L5 degeneration.
This is your destiny young bitches…if you’re lucky.
I was watching a great old surf film with guys getting insanely shacked at Pipe back in 1975. I was totally stoked. Then I read about a degenerating L5 and precancerous cells.
I just went to Hawaii and got all the sun on my back and arms. It makes sense to wear the rash guard for sun, the wet suit for the minimum warmth needed and the booties for rocks/reef.
I've been given shit for a similar combination, but do people expect me to buy low or no-ankle booties for weather like this? seriously? if you know where they can be bought, let me know.
Freak sneaks may be purchased at any of the modern surf shops. Rip Curl makes a pair and they are a great alternative to the hoof savers pictured above.

Now I'm bummed.
