More On Crowds...

...or should that be "Moron Crowds"? Reader Rick sent this in from the break I grew up surfing. While I didn't count, he's claiming 35 people just in this small snapshot of the beach. I can't wait until surfing isn't cool anymore.

PS. Sorry to those who've sent in submissions that have been missed. Apparently, the web bots have found YDD and are now sending me massive amounts of spam. I only spend a few minutes a day on this blog, and it's getting harder with all the spam.

yeah, where is that place? I'd like to give it a go!

If that's Salt Creek by the Ritz in Laguna Beach, then it's not crowded.

yup it is the famous Salt Creek...
It can go from 5 guys having a blissful session to 30+ guys in 20 mins...

Is that really salt creek? That's only crowded due to the fact that there's one peak..If there were more peaks that's an uncrowded day in So. Cal..hehe

Nope... the next peak over had the same crowd...
It is out of hand these days down there... the only saving grace in the summer is the parking lot fills up and turns away dozens more...

It happens like that every day... today was no different... I dropped in on a shoulder high wave at the point going left... at 3 pumps down the line a guy on the shoulder was looking back at me and still scratching for the wave... he knew he was trying to burn me... at the last second he backed off and created a perfect mush ball to hit... I put my fins no less than 3 feet from his face and showered him....
I paddled back out didn't say anything... he didn't try it again... but tomorrow the same will happen and the day after and....

I am not complaining about... I have learned to live with it... I don't like the cold and the thought surfing in the food chain... ; )
