  5. chuns reef - better suck up your pride and ride a longboard as you ain't going to get much on a shortboard

The longboarder is charging with good style and he probably got barreled, depending on how fast the wave was breaking. Even if he didn't, those other 2 are pretty far on the shoulder (esp. for shortboarders) and are total kooks. They're not even looking to see if he's going to make the wave--that's rude in weak surf and just plain dangerous and dumb in hollow surf, even when it's kinda small like in this photo.

This longboarder trying to set up for a barrel is a kook and all those kids in the PV photo below are chargers because they're riding shortboards.

    Common sight in HI:

    Frame #1 (pictured)

Local bruddah dropping in at the peak on a longboard. 2-3 guys on the shoulder ready to drop in.

    Frame #2

Mainland haole kook drops in and gets run over by bruddah. Gets cracks from longboard.

    Frame #3

Mainlander paddles to beach with dinged board and gets cracks from bruddah's bruddahs on the beach.

Lesson - don't drop in, even on those "longboard kooks". Most likely, they surf better than you, grew up surfing the break, and have lots of friends in the lineup and on the beach.

I was not calling the longboarder a kook....the donkeys in this pic are on the shoulder!

  11. Crop out the shoulder hoppers & that pic's not half bad... for a Longboarder.
