Not A Donkey!
Kelly Slater is simply amazing! Congrats on the J-Bay win and essentially wrapping up his ninth world title!

I gotta say....who cares. I get it. you can surf dude. Over it. This guys serial monogamy, 'secret' daughter & insatiable thirst for winning are kinda....'gay'. Not sure how else to say it. Sorry
hahaha, perfect, I used to think this blog kinda sucked in its theory, but once I keyed into the reality that is us, well, it's just really amazing and I truly enjoy this place.
I'll tell ya what, some pals where up at lowers a couple weeks back while Kelly was rippin that place a new one. Any of you catch the "free surf" videos from that session that were up on surfline. That dude is truly amazing ! ! !
PS> I do not worship anyone, but I respect the hell out of the fact that he's the best surfer to have ever lived, competitive or not! That's my opinion and I"m sticking to it!
maybe the slater paradigm is on the decline. Not necessarily him, but the style in general. I think that's what great about surfing--do your own thing and make something up. Next...
I can't stand competitive surfing but I wouldn't mind being able to surf like Joel Parkinson (check out the surfline video within the news thing on the last day of the competition). That guy's style is so much smoother, faster, and more powerful than Slater's, who is more vertical, radical, competitive, or whatever (I guess judges don't reward good style). Also, during interviews Slater seems like a soul-less moron who only cares about winning competitions. Overall though, the other anonymous is right--competitive surfing is lame (although describing it as "gay" is actually pretty bigoted).
actually, who cares whether any of you think pro surfing is gay, lame, valid, etc. etc. If you like it, follow it, if you don't ignore it, cause you sure as hell ain't going to stop it.
Kelly is the best all around surfer ever. Period. Get over it.
WRONG - Slater is the best all-around surfer the world has seen so far. Big waves, small waves, reef breaks, point breaks, beach breaks, longboard, fish, shortboard, tow-in board, you name it and Jimmy Slade rips it.

Both of your posts have me confused. lol
Is it true that Kelly and Mathew McCoughnahy (sp?) have a thing for each other???

who cares? competitive surfing is gay. how can you say someone wins or loses when they're both in the ocean?
Slater is a kook. The Chips can rip way harder and leaves all the ASP Pros grabbing their ankles like little hos.

P.S.
Anonymous is a kook.

Seems you worship at the altar of Kelly...
yet you post him as the Donkey of the day...
Make up your mind...

Right on. I admire his ability a great deal.

Yawn.
Slater is not the best all-around surfer. He is the best competitive surfer. Big difference.
