Costco Surfboards
Old news...but I stumbled upon a batch fresh off the boat from China this weekend! Yeah, bodes well for the future of surfing....not!
Yes, the costco here in Honolulu has carried them for a year at least. I know some people who have bought them as their "crappy board when I have visitors who want to learn how to surf". But still, everytime I go to Costco, I see one being bought. And to think how many shapers there are on the island....
Unless you are sponsored by the big names and getting all your boards for free, more expensive doesn't necessarily mean better. A high percentage of boards are NOT hand-made any more so why the HIGH price?

I don't write a leave a response, but I read some of the comments here "Costco Surfboards". I do have a few questions for you if it's allright. Is it just me or does it look like like a few of the remarks appear like they are left by brain dead visitors? :-P And, if you are posting at additional online sites, I would like to keep up with you. Would you post a list of every one of all your public sites like your Facebook page, twitter feed, or linkedin profile?

ReplyDeleteMaui Costco has carried boards by Realm and Counter Culture for at least 5 years now.
ReplyDeleteThey are decent and put surfboards within the reach of more locals with their low price tag.
I wish the big stores were not here but since they were allowed to come in, they may as well sell what is in demand.
it's all about economics. Ford, GM, Chevy vs. Toyota. We all know who is winning the battle.
